Cub Scouts
As part of the Singapore Scouts Association (SSA), the objective of the Cub Scouts program is to provide a group environment which is intellectually stimulating, physically vital and directed towards satisfying the child’s basic need to face and overcome challenges. Based on the Scout Promise and Law, we provide life skills activities such as first-aid, knotting, outdoor cooking, hikes, camps and rock-climbing.
There are also proficiency and progress badges to be obtained, and these can be pursued based on personal interests. Our Cub Scouts program is dynamic and diverse, there's always something interesting to do!

2026 Cub Scouts Rock Climbing at Northbrooks Secondary
The Cub Scouts recently scaled new heights during an exhilarating collaboration with the Outdoor Adventure Club (ODAC) at Northbrooks Secondary School. This immersive session was designed to introduce the scouts to the fundamentals of rock climbing while fostering a spirit of resilience and teamwork.
Scaling New Heights
Under the expert guidance of the ODAC student leaders and instructors, the Cub Scouts were introduced to the essential gear and safety protocols of the sport. The energy in the indoor climbing facility was electric as the scouts learned about:
-
Proper Harnessing: Understanding the "double-back" safety check.
-
Knot Tying: Mastering the Figure-8 Follow-Through, a staple for any climber.
-
Belay Techniques: Learning the importance of communication between the climber and the ground crew.
Overcoming Challenges
For many of the scouts, this was their first time facing a vertical wall. The Northbrooks ODAC members acted as fantastic mentors, patiently coaching the younger students through difficult "cruxes" and encouraging them to trust their footwork.
Beyond the physical workout, the experience was a masterclass in growth mindset. Every reached hold was a celebration of confidence, and every fall was a lesson in trying again. The collaboration highlighted the strong community bond between the two schools, leaving the Cub Scouts with sore muscles, big smiles, and a newfound passion for the great outdoors.
CCA Highlights
Our Cub Scouts in action, pitching the tents and cooking the eggs during the outdoor learning experience during the CCA sessions.
They also have hands-on experience in learning about First Aid and performing injuries related aid such as wrapping an arm sling.
They also learnt skills such as knotting to help them survive and cope better in an outdoor environment.
In conjunction with the Diamond Jubilee Challenge on the theme “Environment”, the cub scouts went around during the CCA session to their teachers, friends and staff in the school to explain the importance of their roles in creating an impact for the environment and for them to pledge in helping the environment.
Our Cub Scouts had an exciting afternoon at Northbrooks Secondary School on 7 May 2025, where they took on the challenge of rock climbing! 💪🎉
From scaling walls, tying knots to building resilience, our students pushed past their limits and had loads of fun while learning valuable skills. Big cheers to our Cubs for showing courage and teamwork every step of the way! 👏
2025 National Day Ceremory
The Cub Scouts played a significant role in our school's recent National Day celebrations, proudly escorting the National Flag to begin the ceremony. They performed their duty with great discipline and pride, representing our scout group with honor in front of the entire school. Their participation was a highlight of the event, and they certainly did us all proud.
